Great initiative! Many of the enterprise collection can be adapted for the university context, but it would be useful to target specific academic skills, for example, style master, wordsmith, accuracy, etc. These are related to my own field of language teaching, but other, more general, badges could be considered, for example, showing initiative, motivation, true grit, etc.
I look forward to seeing this collection develop.

Maybe re-think the True Grit one to reflect better the idea of determination, persistence, overcoming challenges.
Other ideas for badges could match certain Moodle activities You already have Workshop (maybe something about (peer) assessment skills?); maybe a badge for a very high quiz score, or a particularly useful/insightful post in a discussion forum, or even just some kind of level up / XP series of badges to check off progress through the course material.
Keep up the beautiful designs!

I’m not sure if I understand this properly, but some library related badges would be great – eg: Returned on time, Located item in database, Handy resource, No fines, Excellent resource, etc…

I created a silly but essential one for my courses. I’d love a custom designed badge for it though instead of the simple star image I used.
Syllabus Superstar (for people who read the syllabus and complete a quiz based on it).
I would also love something that tracks completion of course content. Kind of like a brain filling up (25%, 50%, 75%, 100% and some variations on that).
Badges that recognise timely completion of activities – never late on assignments.
Badges to reward forum participation (ranked based on number of posts, perhaps). First post. Frequent poster. Etc.
I’m sure I will think of more as I play with badges.

I bet there would be some subject specific ones that would be handy too. As someone who teaches four-field anthropology courses, I’d love badges that symbolise Cultural Anthropology, Archaeology, Linguistic Anthropology, and Bioanthropology. I’d use them as rewards for completing activities associated with each of the sub-disciplines.

These look great! One minor thing. Archaeology is about humans, not dinosaurs (that’s paleontology). Perhaps a trowel? http://www.scapod.org/storage/graphics/trowel.png?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1285044564938

A biological anthropology one that would be awesome would be a representation of a skull of one or more human ancestors – like Australopithecus or Neanderthalensis.

Hi Erin, the badges were updated.

Got anything around for participation? I was thinking of ranking participation in some way, though I am still trying to envision what that might look like.
For forum participation, maybe there could be a few colour options of the same badge? Or a one thumb, three thumbs, many thumbs series so I can rank from forum newbie to forum regular, etc. Oh – many a many thumbs and stars one for exceptional forum posters.
I’m also looking for something that I could use for tutorial completion – similar to the brain ones you created. My classes have a Moodle site for the lecture component and then Moodle sites for the various tutorials too. I’m using the brain ones for rewarding the completion of exercises and readings on the lecture Moodle, but would like something similar for tutorials. It could even be as simple as a series of stars, with one that is 25% filled in, one that is 50%, etc.

These are great! I can definitely see myself using some of these in my online courses. Do you have anything in mind for environmental science or biology courses? I’d love a badge with bird on it!

No, we don’t have it, but we will create it for you soon.

I’d like a primatology badge, please. Maybe an ape or a monkey?
And an evolution one – perhaps with a couple of different finch profiles?
I’d also really like a few others for some of my specific archaeology courses, but they might be too specific for the kinds of things you are doing. For instance, I’d like one that shows a Viking helmet with horns, but has a line going through it (because Viking helmets didn’t have horns!). A Viking ship. A Viking sword. A whalebone plaque.
I’d like one that shows a gravestone (I teach Archaeology of Death). The Anglo-Saxon urn and the Viking ship would work in this course too. A skeleton or human skull.
If these kinds of things are too specific and unlikely to be used by others, not to worry. I thought that some might also be of interest to people who teach Lit or History though.
Finally – is it at all possible to get certain of the other Anthropology ones that you did for me as vector files? I’d like to promote the badges for my Moodle site by having some of them turned into stickers to give to students. The print shop says they need things as vector files to turn them into stickers (.avi, .eps, .cdr, .svg files). If it’s possible, the ones I’d want would be: primatology, cultural anthropology, linguistics, bioanthropology, and archaeology. If we can make badges for any of the above listed specialty ones, I’d love vector files for the Viking ship, human skull, castle, gravestone, chessman, and urn.
I want to get my students hooked on the badges concept and my colleagues too, so that more people start to use them.

I’d like to mention there is a monkey badge in the Enterprise badge set you might like to use for primatology?

I just sent you the files by email, thak you for your enquiries.
